The third edition of the Berlin Hummus Festival begins with a journey to the roots of Hummus and understanding the sensitivities around the origin of the dish.
Hours of research and the question yet remains unsolved. However, whether Syrian, Lebanese or Egyptian, it is safe to say that Hummus is an Arabic dish which was happily adopted in most countries in the middle east, and has been making its way in recent years into the heart of western societies – being introduced on the shelves in supermarket chains, sold on food events and incorporated an an important feature in vegan lifestyle.
As for us, Arabs, Jews and Germans – the organizers of the Berliner Hummus Festival – we don’t really care: we simply gather together to celebrate a united love for this dish. For the third year in a row, we meet on a Sunday afternoon to feed our souls and our bodies, and to emphasize those sweet pleasures that unite us all as humans, way deeper than any identity that was forced upon us from birth.
Different Hummus lovers will offer you their own personal interpretation of the dish while musicians and DJs will connect music from the middle east with the local electronic scene in a wonderful open air party.

Die dritte Ausgabe des Berlin Hummus Festivals beginnt mit einer Reise zu den Wurzeln des Hummus selbst und einem Verständnis für die Feinheiten wenn es um seinen Ursprung geht.
Viele viele Stunden der Nachforschung und dennoch bleibt die Frage unbeantwortet. Doch ob nun syrisch, libanesisch oder Ägyptisch, sicher ist, dass Hummus ein arabisches Gericht ist, welches die meisten Länder im Nahen Osten freudig adoptierten. Auch in die Herzen der westlichen Gesellschaften hat es sich seinen Weg gebahnt und wird mittlerweile in den Regalen der Supermarktketten angeboten, bei Food Events verkauft und ist tief verankert im veganen Lifestyle.
Für uns jedoch, Araber, Juden und Deutsche – die Organisatoren des Berlin Hummus Festivals – ist das eigentlich egal: wir kommen zusammen, einfach nur um die gemeinsame Liebe für das herrliche Gericht zu feiern. Das dritte Jahr in Folge treffen wir uns an einem Sonntag um unsere Seelen und Körper zu füttern und um die kleinen Vergnügungen zu unterstreichen, die uns Menschen viel eher einen, als eine Identität, die uns von Geburt an auferlegt wurde.
Unterschiedliche Hummus Liebhaber werden ihre eigene Interpretation des Gerichts anbieten und Musiker und DJ’s werden Musik des Nahen Ostens mit der lokalen Elektro-Szene in einer wundervollen Open Air Party vereinen.

مهرجان الحمص في برلين للسنه الثالثه على التوالي.نبدأ الحدث برحلة لجذور واصول الحمص على مر التاريخ والوعي الحسي حول اصل هذه الاكلة.
رغم الدراسات الجمه المكثفه حول اصل اكلة الحمص الا ان التساؤلات لم تجد ،وما زالت بلا اجابات وافيه وكافيه حول الموضوع.
حقاً لا يُعرف ما اذا كان اصل طبق الحمص سوري ، لبناني أو مصري لكن من المؤكد انه طبق عربي مُدرج ضمن قوائم الاكلات في دول الشرق الاوسط.
والجدير بالذكر ان الحمص احتل رفوف المحلات التجاريه في المجتمعات الغربيه التي لم تألف بمثل هذه الانواع الغذائيه من قبل.ويُعد مؤخراً من الاطعمة الهامه التي لا غنى عنها في مخطط التغذيه للانسان الخضري الذي يتزايد عدداً يوماً تلو الاخر.
بالنسبة لنا سواء عرب،يهود او المان كُنا ،نحن منظمو هذا المهرجان ، لا يهمّمنا سوى تجمّعنا للاحتفال بهذا “الطبق الجماهيري”.
للسنة الثالثه نجتمع ظهر الاحد لنغذي ارواحنا واجسادنا مؤكدين ان ثمة متعة وسعاده لا بد من احيائها لتوحدنا كبشر بعيداً عن الهوية ومركباتها والتي من شأنها ان تُمزقنا إرباً إرباً .
عشاق الحمص سيتوّجون المهرجان وعلى ترانيم وانغام شرقيه تتمايل مع نسائم برلينيه.
